INTECO's Information Security Observatory releases a new article as a part of the "Observatory Notebook" series. This article aims to make known one of the exisiting systems to analyse and monitor the methods of attack through the Internet. To do so, researchers use known tools such as honeypots: computers or networks of computers which manage to get information on attacks, letting attackers access a computer or system and leave traces of the means they use and of the actions they take to infect and control computers, in order to, from them, carry out different types of malicious activities such as sending spam or gathering confidential information from the attacked users' computers.
