The National Institute of Communication Technologies (INTECO) and the Asociación Española de Distribuidores y Editores de Software de Entretenimiento (aDeSe) initiative have published the Parental Guide for safe children usage on video games. The aim of the guide is to solve the major security and privacy issues that Spanish parents encounter when regulating their children’s electronic games.
The Information Security Observatory has prepared this informative material, which is available on the websites of both agencies (www.inteco.es and www.adese.es respectively).
The guide, specially geared to parents and guardians, extends its scope to groups such as educators, industry and the government, with all being involved in the child’s personal development. In terms of content, an approach is made to the current state of the digital entertainment market and the position occupied by Spanish children as users of these technologies, as well as the legal framework involved in this practice.
Finally, this enjoyment is not without risk, which especially affects children due to their vulnerability. In light of these risks, we offer a series of recommendations for the groups mentioned, promoting the safe use by all citizens.
Full guide available in Spanish and English and its review in Catalan, Basque, Galician and Valencian.
