Current online fraud methods and techniques are based in the use of social engineering supported by the use of malware, mostly trojans. Banking trojans are specific types in this category. These are aimed at obtaining users’ sensitive data and stealing their bank account passwords and payment card PINs.
In this article the Observatory intends to make known both how banking trojans work and the risk they entail, as well as their incidence and effect on the computers of the Spanish users. Lastly, a series of recommendations to protect ourselves from and combat them is included.
The corresponding documentation of this project is available in Spanish and English.
